Brazil’s Certified Angus Beef Program reached an unprecedented milestone in the first half of 2025, registering a 98.6% increase in exports compared to the same period last year. According to the Brazilian Angus and Ultrablack Association, a total of 2,648 metric tons of certified beef were shipped abroad between January and June, underscoring the strong momentum of the Brazilian beef industry in premium markets.
Israel has emerged as the leading buyer of Brazilian Certified Angus beef, accounting for 35% of total exports during the semester. China, historically one of Brazil’s top beef destinations, followed with 31%, reflecting the diversification of global demand. Beyond these two major players, shipments reached a wide range of markets across the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia, including Chile, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Kuwait, and Malaysia. In total, 24 countries imported Brazilian Certified Angus Beef in the first six months of the year.
Domestically, the program also recorded strong growth in slaughter activity. A total of 255,600 head of cattle were processed under the certification program, representing a 13.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This expansion is supported by a team of 80 trained technicians working in Brazilian slaughterhouses, ensuring that every cut meets strict quality and traceability standards.
For José Paulo Cairoli, president of the Brazilian Angus and Ultrablack Association, the results confirm that 2025 will be remembered as a historic year for the program. “The numbers show that global demand for quality beef continues to grow, and our program is perfectly positioned to meet these expectations,” he said.
Program director Wilson Brochmann highlighted that the surge in exports is largely due to slaughterhouses increasingly adopting the certification process in response to rising market demand. Meanwhile, program manager Maychel Borges emphasized the importance of quality-driven destinations, noting that “countries that value premium beef, such as Israel, are turning to Brazilian Certified Angus to secure exactly that.”
This performance comes at a time when Brazil is consolidating its role as one of the world’s largest beef exporters. In the broader beef sector, Brazil’s exports as a whole climbed 27% in value in the first half of 2025, reaching US$ 7.2 billion. Within this context, the success of the Certified Angus Program illustrates the growing appetite for premium, high-value beef cuts and strengthens Brazil’s position as a global leader in the supply of quality meat.
